Welcome to Aya Healing Arts, LLC! The word “aya” is derived from the Twi language of Ghana and translates to “endurance” and “resourcefulness.” The Asante Adinkra symbol for “aya” is depicted as a fern plant because it is believed that ferns have the ability to thrive in difficult places. As a Board-Certified Art Therapist, Licensed Clinical Professional Art Therapist, and Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in Maryland, as well as a Licensed Professional Counselor in Washington, DC, my practice offers a supportive and non-judgmental space where you too can learn how to thrive in the face of adversity! By taking charge of your thoughts, emotions, and actions, you can learn how to practice better self-care and improve insight along the way.
Whether you prefer traditional talk therapy or are open to using the art-making process to sort out those things you can’t find words for, I hope we can work together to bring about the lasting change, self-acceptance, and awareness you seek.
